I am a bilingual teacher working with first grade students in the ESOL Dual Language program in Florida. I had the opportunity to integrate the Hate That Thunder/Odio Ese Trueno book into my Socail Studies and Reading Curriculum and the students loved it so much that any time it rains they ask me to read it again and again. This book not only can be read by the students who are Spanish native speakers, but by the English native ones. As a teacher, I loved the book because it has a perfect length, it is easy to read and follow along. We could work with vocabulary and alphabetical order by using the glossary. We also worked with rhyming words, sequence, and students completed a perfect story map! The illustrations are beautiful and make a wonderful, easy to follow picture walk to predict the story and make inferences. It is wonderful to work with so many skills just with one book. R.G. Being a Spanish teacher for the lower level school, these books are a great example of Bilingual books. I was able to read them in both English and Spanish and the kids were so entertained in the way the books changed over to Spanish. They were easy to understand, and a lot of fun to read. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Stephanie, Pre-K - 4th grade Spanish teacher
